Facilities Designer II State of Connecticut Judicial Branch
Hartford The State of Connecticut Judicial Branch, Facilities Unit
is seeking a Facilities Designer II to assist in the performance of
a variety of architectural functions for court and court-related
building projects. Examples of duties include: Reviews, analyzes,
and comments on a variety of complex plans and specifications
transmitted by the Department of Administrative Services for new,
existing, and leased facilities; recommends minor renovation
capital projects, including cost estimates; inspects proposed
building sites; inspects and evaluates facilities experiencing
space shortages; prepares office layouts; attends job-site meetings
as requested; acts as liaison with the Department of Administrative
Services for capital projects; supervises Drafters engaged in the
preparation of plans, drawings, and specifications; prepares
sketches and detail drawings for minor improvement projects;
reviews plans with judges, court personnel, and local officials;
selects furniture, carpet, drapes, and finishes for projects;
prepares reports and correspondence; performs related duties as
required. Candidates should possess: Considerable knowledge of the
principles, practices, and methods of architectural design and the
design aspects of building modification and construction;
considerable knowledge of space planning and design; knowledge of
building materials and components; knowledge of state and local
building codes; interpersonal skills; oral and written
communication skills; considerable ability to design, prepare
details, and write specifications for various types of buildings;
ability to estimate project costs. The preferred candidate will
possess knowledge of ADA code and compliances, attention to detail,
and experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam and Excel. Salary Range:
$95,624 - $125,311/year – plus State of Connecticut benefits. New
employees begin at the minimum. The starting salary for existing
state employees may be higher than the minimum, in accordance with
existing Judicial Branch policy. The State of Connecticut Judicial

short term disability. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING General Experience:
Seven (7) years of experience in the preparation of architectural
designs and project documents for various types of building design
projects. Substitutions Allowed: College training in Architecture
or Engineering may be substituted for the General Experience on the
basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one-half (1/2) year
of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's
degree. Special Requirements: Incumbents are required to travel in
