In any role in the facility, one will be required to follow all Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) rules and regulations (935 CMR 500) as well as all facility and company policies pertaining to all production, safe handling of cannabis and cannabis products as well as all pertinent personnel safety policy and guidance.

The Extraction Manager reports to the Operations Manager and is responsible for providing detailed analysis and data pertaining to the department as well as oversight to daily operations in extraction and infusion. The Extraction Manager will provide leadership for all processing team members and ensure that the department is safe and compliant with DPH, OSHA, EPA, MDAR, CCC and all state regulations. Additionally, the Extraction Manager is responsible for ensuring all company policies are upheld and all company-provided standard operating procedures are adhered to.

*About the Job: *

The Extraction Manager is responsible for maintaining a cooperative, efficient staff and for the output of high-quality concentrates. This will be a hands-on role with our small extraction team and the development and refinement of product creation procedures. Additionally, we are seeking a candidate who can strongly support the infusion process with product dosing calculations, product formulation, production scheduling, and general oversight of the team.

* Maintain the highest level of safety and compliance to ensure processing operation is fully compliant with state regulations (935 CMR 500/501), federal and state laws.
* Develop and maintain extraction operations by initiating, coordinating, training, and enforcing operational policies and procedures, SOP and related document generation and enforcement.
* Partner with operations and sales teams to best navigate product goals.
* Experience with and ability to train and oversee production of pharmaceutical grade finished concentrate products such as butter, wax, full spectrum oil, RSO, resin, sugar, diamonds, vape carts, and distillate. As well as ability to develop procedures for future products.
* Support the infusion team with product dosing calculations, formulation, recipes, and oversight to ensure accurate production procedures are followed and expected dosing is achieved for various cannabis oil infused products.
* Oversee processing, extraction, and infusion, through creation of production/packaging schedules, KPI's, reports, and all necessary documentation.
* Analyze production data for optimization of production efficiency and quality of products including yields, purity, compound profile, and dosage accuracy.
* Troubleshoot, clean, and maintain production and facility equipment to ensure maximized up time. Coordinate and oversee all maintenance (in-house or 3rd party) and re-certification of equipment.
* Maintain organized inventory records of supplies, materials, and equipment. Process resource orders in a timely manner.
* Maintain material safety data sheets for all department chemicals and products, conduct necessary training for these documents.
* Supervise processes to ensures 100% compliance involving proper weighing, data recording, product tracking and security throughout all processes
* Perform all assigned duties required to ensure a sanitary and safe production facility, work environment, equipment, and tools.

*About you: *

General:

* Due to state regulations, qualified candidates for this position must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a background check - certain criminal convictions may disqualify candidates based on state medical marijuana licensing regulations.
* Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs unassisted for 100 feet.
* Extended periods of time sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, or repetitive movements with arms or hands.

Skills:

* Knowledge of and hands on experience with hydrocarbon extraction, distillation, and rotary evaporation required.
* Experience with cannabis seed to sale tracking software is highly desired.
* Familiar use of a wide range of extraction lab equipment such as vacuum ovens, vape cart filling machines, chillers, scales etc.
* Professional demeanor, skillful communicator, and ability to productively collaborate through challenging situations.
* Ability to build, manage, and mentor a diverse team.
* Strong understanding of scientific method, principles, chemistry, extraction, and measurements.
* Experience working in and maintaining a safe, sanitary laboratory environment including the safe handling and disposal of potentially harmful chemicals, substances, and hazardous waste.
* Proficient with computer systems, software, and hardware common to laboratories.
* Detailed attention to record keeping procedures, lab analysis results and ability to adjust to improve performance.

Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in chemistry, food science, chemical engineering, biochemistry, biology, or related experience. (Required)
* Extraction laboratory management: 3-5 years (Required)
* Licensed cannabis extraction with hydrocarbon experience greatly preferred.
* Experience with tracking software (seed to sale) and working in a highly regulated industry greatly preferred.

Education:

* Bachelor's or higher in chemistry, food science, chemical engineering, biochemistry, biology, or related experience. (Required)
