HealthAlliance - Leominster and Clinton CampusPosition Summary:This
position is responsible for directing, administering and
coordinating all clinical operations of the hospitals Emergency
Services department. Ensures the delivery of quality services and
professional nursing is practiced in accordance with the hospitals
established standards of nursing and the standards of practice.
Responsible for coordinating the efforts of related social
services, pharmacy, and laboratory functions to ensure the
development and execution of effective business program plans for
Emergency Services.Major Responsibilities:Works with physician
leaders and clinical managers to ensure the delivery of Emergency
Services in an integrated fashion.Coordinates the development,
annual update, and implementation of the Emergency Services
Strategic business plan. Identifies and develops departmental goals
and objectives in support of the overall hospital strategic
plan.Conducts market analyses for Emergency clinical services,
tracks utilization of services, and identifies opportunities for
expansion, providing reports to set and measure program goals and
performance. Researches and analyzes current trends; plans and
implements new Emergency Services programs.Responsible for
achieving revenue and budgetary goals while assuring that the
department meets established quality standards and regulatory
requirements. Monitors resource utilization, including payroll,
supplies and expenses, volume and revenue variance reports, and
patient volume reports. Implements corrective action plans when
necessary to ensure operations remain within the financial
budget.Represents the hospital in its relationship with other
health organizations and affiliates and the community. Maintains
professional, cooperative relationships with other institutions as
needed. Coordinates Emergency Services Committee initiatives and
Emergency Services operations meetings.Standard Management Level
Responsibilities: Directs and supervises assigned personnel
including performance evaluations, scheduling, orientation, and
training. Makes recommendations on employee hires, transfers,
promotions, salary changes, discipline, terminations, and similar
actions. Resolves grievances and other personnel problems within
position responsibilities.Develops and recommends the budgets for
the areas managed. Manages activities to assure financial goals are
met. Coordinates the assignment of tasks and helps resolve
technical and operational problems. Evaluates the impact of
solutions to ensure goals are achieved. Provides effective
direction, guidance, and leadership over the staff for effective
teamwork and motivation and fosters the effective integration of
efforts with system-wide initiatives. Meets established
productivity standards. Facilitates and promotes the sharing of
knowledge and content throughout departments. Takes responsibility
for ensuring that all work outcomes satisfy the UMass Memorial
Health System True North. The individual must support the mission,
vision, and goals of HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital and serve as a
role model for CARES values. Adheres to change control processes.
Participates in cross training to optimize department resources.
Demonstrates excellent attendance and actively participates in a
variety of meetings and training sessions as required. Demonstrates

Qualifications:License/Certification/Education:Required: Bachelors
degree in Nursing Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse
LicensePreferred: Masters Degree in Nursing, Nursing Management, or
a related fieldExperience/Skill:Required: Minimum seven (7) years
of clinical experience plus 3-5 years of previous supervisory or
management experienceStrong work ethic and a team
player.Demonstrated hands on leader who can develop a strategic
vision for the departmentExcellent verbal and written communication
skillsUnless certification, licensure or registration is required,
an equivalent combination of education and experience which
provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this
description may be substituted for the above requirements.
Department-specific competencies, including age-specific
competencies and their measurements will be developed and
maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be
maintained and attached to the departmental job description.
Responsible managers will review competencies with position
incumbents.
