Reliant Medical Group in Leominster has an opening for a full-time Radiology Technologist. - This role is 38.75 hours Monday-Friday. - Provides general direction of the Supervisor and/or Senior Technologist, utilizes independent judgment to provide radiological and/or phlebotomy services to patients while adhering to department organizational policies, procedures and standards.

Primary Responsibilities:
Routinely provides radiographic diagnostic services by operating imaging equipment and other equipment/devices as necessary. -Evaluates radiographs for technical quality and seeks advice when necessary. -Troubleshoots and problem solves certain factors before calling service Operates all generators and equipment. -Produces quality Radiographs and conforms to -MS43 Radiology Technician I -department standards. -Makes a conscientious effort to show any cases to a radiologist upon finding suspicious abnormalities. -Uses developer and fixer types appropriately
Complies with all state and/or federal regulations related to ultrasonography. -Maintains proper solution in chemistry tanks. -Turns water on or off as appropriate. -Monitors processor temperature. -Communicates any problems with processor equipment
Maintains sound employee radiation safe practices that are in compliance with ALARA and the standards set by the State of Massachusetts. Wears proper shielding devices at all times for self protection. -Wears film badge(s) at all times while in the department when not in use. -Does not hold patients while radiation is being omitted
Administers contrast media under the direction of the Radiologist. Obtains and documents all pertinent history prior to administering contrast. -Uses appropriate contrast media types pertaining to each exam. -Monitors patient effectively upon injecting any contrast media
Maintains proper sterile and aseptic technique for patients and required sterile fields
Maintains proper sterile and aseptic technique for patients and required sterile fields. Sets up sterile trays pertinent to each procedure. -Completes cross training program. -Maintains proficiency of skills learned, (i.e., drawing, EKG's etc.)
Rotates as necessary to perform all procedures of the department. Displays ability to work in any general diagnostic site
Displays ability to perform trauma procedures and adhere to trauma protocol. Possesses a workable knowledge of any pre-exam preparation
Maintains or reports on established supply shelf levels for the department
Stocks and rotates stocks on shelves with replacements when supplies arrive. -Utilizes LIFO (last in, first out) method of inventory
Checks the supplies in the department on a daily basis and communicates low stock levels
Initiates life support measures, if necessary. Possesses a workable knowledge of the "Code Blue" protocol. Possesses a workable knowledge of the "Nurse Call" system. Knows where the code cart and other emergency supplies are kept. Maintains appropriate patient records and assists in all clerical support procedures as required. -Knows the X-fay file system. -Completes requisition or generates bar code. -Logs all patients in appropriate log books where applicable
Demonstrates knowledge and skills required to perform processes involved in the delivery of age-appropriate care. -Provides care appropriate to the patient population served

NEWBORN (up to one month)
Provides radiologic services for the newborn patient. Competent in using proper techniques (i.e., radiation dose, coning, positioning). -Proper shielding must be used according to procedure and patient size. -Will receive adequate protection from unnecessary x-ray exposure by means of minimal exposure times and proper collimation. -Technologist must be able to perform all routine positioning as detailed in the department manual. -Technologist must have working knowledge of immobilization devices (i.e., PIG-O-Stat, Sandbags, etc.) to ensure proper positioning and safety. -Technologist is expected to explain each procedure to family and/or nursing personnel. -Ensures the comfort of the newborn (i.e., warmth, positioning with care). -Competent in using proper techniques (i.e., radiation dose, coning, positioning).

CHILD (1 Month to 12 years)
Provides radiologic services for the child. -Proper shielding must be used according to procedure and patient size. -Will receive adequate protection from unnecessary x-ray exposure by means of minimal exposure times and proper elimination. Technologist must be able to perform all routine positioning as detailed in the department procedure manual. -Technologist must have a working knowledge of immobilization devices (i.e., PIG-O-Stat, Sandbags, etc.) to ensure proper positioning and safety. -Technologist is expected to explain each procedure to family and/or nursing personnel and/or patient by demonstrating with pictures, dolls, or familiar objects. -Ensures the comfort of the child (i.e., warmth, positioning with care).

ADOLESCENT (13 to 17 years)
Provides radiologic services for the adolescent patient. -Competent in using proper techniques (i.e., radiation dose, coning, positioning).
Proper shielding must be used according to procedure, patient size and pregnancy status. -Will receive adequate protection from unnecessary x-ray exposure by means of minimal exposure times and proper elimination. -Technologist must be able to perform all routine positioning as detailed in the department procedure manual. -All female patients of child bearing age will be questioned about pregnancy on the requisition bar code. Technologist must have a working knowledge of immobilization devices (i.e., PIG-O-Stat, Sandbags, etc.) to ensure proper positioning and safety. -Technologist is expected to explain each procedure to family and/or nursing personnel. -Ensures the comfort of the adolescent (i.e., warmth, positioning with care).

ADULT (18 to 65 years)
Provides radiologic services for the adult patient. -Competent in using proper techniques (i.e., radiation dose, coning, positioning). -Proper shielding must be used according to procedure, patient size and pregnancy status. -Will receive adequate protection from unnecessary x-ray exposure by means of minimal exposure times and proper elimination. -Technologist must be able to perform all routine positioning as detailed in the department procedure manual. -All female patients of child bearing age will be questioned about pregnancy on the requisition bar code. -Technologist must have a working knowledge of immobilization devices (i.e., PIG-O-Stat, Sandbags, etc.) to ensure proper positioning and safety. -Technologist is expected to explain each procedure to family and/or nursing personnel. -Ensures the comfort of the adult (i.e., warmth, positioning with care).

GERIATRIC (over 65 years)
Competent in using proper techniques (i.e., radiation dose, coning, positioning). - Proper shielding must be used according to procedure and patient size. -Will receive adequate protection from unnecessary x-ray exposure by means of minimal exposure times and proper elimination. -Technologist must be able to perform all routine positioning as detailed in the department procedure manual. -Technologist must have a working knowledge of immobilization devices (i.e., PIG-O-Stat, Sandbags, etc.) to ensure proper positioning and safety. -Technologist is expected to explain each procedure to family and/or nursing personnel. - Ensures the comfort of the adult (i.e., warmth, positioning with care). -Speaks distinctly due to loss of hearing. Changes body positions slowly due to normal aging changes for the geriatric patient.

Complies with health and safety requirements and with regulatory agencies such as DPH, etc
Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives
Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, seminars, etc
Attends a variety of meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed
Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed
Regular, reliable and predicable attendance is required

Required Qualifications:
Two-year program with accredited school of Radiologic Technology with an Associate Degree
Current CPR certification
Commonwealth of Massachusetts registered Radiology Technology License
Knowledge of various software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc
Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements.
