Responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the staff
development and educational activities for assigned area(s).
Assures the quality of patient care delivered on assigned unit(s)
through the assessment and development of the nursing staff.
Participates in the development and implementation of educational
programs for the entire Nursing Department.
Bachelor's degree in nursing or related healthcare field
required. Must have at least 3 years of clinical nursing experience
with 1 year experience in clinical preceptor and/or charge nurse
role; experience in teaching highly desired. Preferred candidates
will also have recent Maternity RN experience.
Currently holds an active RN license in the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts. Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and
presentation computer software required. Excellent oral and written
communication skills required. Process improvement experience

Implements and evaluates orientation, in-service, and continuing
education programs for staff in assigned areas.
Develops competency level of nursing staff with patients and
patient populations managed on assigned unit(s).
Implements curricula, instructional strategies, tests, and
evaluation tools, and maintains current educational supplies and
equipment. Recommends changes to the curricula based on feedback
and current clinical and/or educational evidence.
Applies evidence-based educational methods and technologies that
support development of nursing expertise.
Assures that staff meets required competencies, both annual and
unit based, for area of practice.
Oversees orientation to the charge nurse and preceptor roles for
nurses new to those functions.
Serve as a facilitator for nursing governance councils as
